Our Beginner Cubensis Spore Kit is a wonderful way to begin your magic mushroom spore research! This microscopy kit includes one Golden Teacher spore syringe and one B+ spore syringe for your microscopy and taxonomy adventure. Both are fantastic cultivars to begin with due to their versatility, consistency, and strong representation of Psilocybe cubensis characteristics. Golden Teacher and B+ have been been very popular over the years with beginner and experienced researchers alike, and will be a great start to your spore library!

Spore Strain Origin

Psilocybe cubensis var. B+ are thought to be first found in Southeast Asia Minor, but have also been known to adapt to other regions around the world making this a very versatile mushroom. Psilocybe cubensis var. Golden Teacher is said to be discovered in the early 1980’s in either FL, or in dung at a straw farm in GA. It has become arguably the most popular magic mushroom strain to be researched over the past few decades.

B+ and Golden Teacher in the Wild

B+ magic mushrooms are quite versatile when it comes to its preferred environment. They tend to prefer compost heaps and fertile soil that has been enriched by the dung of horses and cattle. These mushrooms have darker brown bell-shaped caps that flatten at maturity atop creamy white to light tan medium sized stems. The very popular Golden Teacher magic mushroom can be found scattered across the Gulf States of the United States. These mushrooms are found growing in large flushes with a golden hued cap that can be adorned with white flecks near full maturity.

Mushroom Spore Features

Like many other cubensis mushrooms, both B+ and Golden Teacher will drop dark brown to almost purple spores that can form wonderfully dense spore prints. The spores themselves are sub-ellipsoid on 4-spored basidia.
