Cordyceps, or Cordyceps Militaris, is an amazing fungus with nearly 600 species abundantly found in humid climates and tropical jungles. Cordyceps have long been used in Chinese medicine and are also referred to as the “athletes mushroom.” It is known for its potential energy boosting properties, protection against fatigue, high blood pressure relief, fighting upper respiratory infections, treating seasonal allergies, and reducing inflammation. Cordyceps also increases ATP production via pre-cursor compounds such as adenosine and cordycepin. ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) is a coenzyme produced by the body that is responsible for providing energy to drive many of the critical processes in living cells. Cordyceps are also high in polysaccharides, sterols, fatty acids, and beta glucans. Cordyceps are typically ground to a fine powder for teas, tinctures, and added to nutritional supplements.*
