Why McKennaii?
Psilocybe cubensis var. McKennaii is a strain named after famous American philosopher, researcher, and ethnobotanist, Terrence McKenna. This cubensis comes with a very interesting origin story. Our spore syringe kit includes a generously filled 10cc syringe, sterile dispensing needle, alcohol swab(s), and Spore Storage Guide, backed by PNW Spore’s Quality Guarantee. Learn more about our Spore Syringe Quality Guarantee here.
Our McKennaii spores are vigorously tested, and produced in our professional clean-room laboratories. All our magic mushroom spores are quality tested before shipment to ensure our spore syringes are contamination free.
Spore Strain Origin
It rumored, that after Terrence McKenna’s death in 2000, spore prints were found with his handwriting on them. It was from these prints that the McKennaii cubensis was born, or rather, reborn. Terrence McKenna neither discovered nor developed the strain, but simply received the honor of it named after him. The first sample came from the mountainous Sierra Mazateca regions of Mexico, where the strain flourishes in the hillsides surrounding small villages.
McKennaii in the Wild
As a Mexican strain in origin, McKennaii cubensis can be found in the subtropical Oaxaca state of Mexico in dung and enriched soils.
Mushroom Spore Features
McKennaii magic mushrooms produce dark purplish-brown spore prints. In early stages the fruit produced by these spores are orange to burnt orange in color, maturing to a golden brown to light yellow, with nearly white edges.
Research Difficulty
McKennaii magic mushroom spores are known to one of the easiest strains to research with, making them suitable for all levels of research experience.
Our McKennaii magic mushroom spore syringes are guaranteed to be free of contamination and contain MILLIONS of spores.

We use HEPA air filtration to maintain a positively pressurized “clean room” environment. All spore syringe production takes place in our clean-room laboratories in front of laminar flow hoods, using laboratory-grade borosilicate glassware, surgical steel tools, and medical-grade syringes and tip caps. Our equipment, tools, and work surfaces are kept clean using both UVC and autoclave sterilization.
