Actual PE is not known for consistently producing spore prints like many other Psilocybe mushrooms – including many of the modified variants of PE that we sell, such as Penis Envy #6 and Penis Envy Uncut Revert. Most of the time you can only find liquid culture syringes for this popular mushroom variety. We couldn’t be more excited to unveil actual Penis Envy spore syringes to add to your spore collection!

Spore Strain Origin

Well known ethnobotanist Terrence McKenna discovered a unique “mutation” of Psilocybe cubensis growing from cattle dung in the Amazon in 1971. After collecting prints from what he found, he brought them back to the United States and shared them with renowned mycologist, Steven Pollock.

Penis Envy in the Wild

Penis Envy mushrooms are thought to be a mutation of Psilocybe cubensis var. Amazon, which thrive in enriched soil and cattle dung. These mushrooms prefer the warm and humid subtropical conditions of the Amazon jungle. Penis Envy have quite defined physical characteristics with a prominent bell-shaped cap that is caramel to almost yellow in color, atop thick off-white stems that can seem mis-shaped compared to the smooth tubular shape of other cubensis stems. These mushrooms have been know to grow much larger than other cubensis varieties.

Mushroom Spore Features

It is Penis Envy’s unique cap shape that leads to a lower spore production in comparison to other Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms. PE spores are dark purple to brown in color, subellipsoid on 4-spored basidia, but are fewer in numbers a majority of the time.

Research Difficulty

Psilocybe cubensis var. Penis Envy is a more challenging magic mushroom spore to research and is suitable for intermediate to advanced experience levels.
