The Golden Wine Cap (Stropharia rugosoannulta), is truly the Garden Giant. Found in Europe and North America, the Golden Wine Cap can grow 20cm high and with a cap flattening to nearly 30cm across. Not originally regarded as a medicinal mushroom and more of a culinary delight with its potato-like flavor, some studies have shown promising results that it’s bioactive components may aid in inhibiting cancer cell growth, interfere with a chemical reaction to the HIV-1 virus, regulate blood sugar and cholesterol.
